This course is for you because…

You really enjoyed Art at GCSE. You are enthusiastic and passionate about all aspects of Art, Design and Craft. You have a creative and imaginative mind and love exploring a wide range of media, techniques and processes. You envisage your future working in the creative, media, design, engineering or architecture based industries.

Where can it take me?

You may find yourself working within fashion design, textile design, printmaking, ceramics, graphic design, product design, furniture design, interior design, architecture, design engineering, photography, advertising, broadcasting, film and television design, film making, theatre design, costume design, illustration, animation, web design, gaming design, teaching, curating and many, many more fields within the creative industries.

Portfolio

Year 12 Term One

Unit 1: Yorkshire Grit: A unit comprising experimental workshops and developing confidence and skills base.
This unit will include a trip to a artists studio and work en plein air.

Year 12 Term Two

Unit 2: Invisible Cities: A unit which will develop ideas around the built environment. This will be linked to a trip or visit. February 2017 Venice.

Year 12 Term Three and Autumn Term of Year 13

Component 1: Personal Investigation

This is a practical investigation, supported by written information. Students are required to conduct a practical investigation into an idea, issue, concept or theme. The investigation must show clear development from initial intentions to the final outcome or outcomes. This unit is supported by written work of between 1500 – 3000 words. You will display your personal investigation in the end of year exhibition.

Component 1 + PORTFOLIO is 60% of your A Level.

Year 13 Term Two

Component 2: Externally Set Assignment

The externally set assignment is set by AQA, centre-assessed and moderated by AQA. There is a lead-in preparatory period for initial research, investigation, experimentation and refinement and a 15-hour period of supervised time in which you will produce a final piece under exam conditions.
