We are seeking an outstanding teaching practitioner and leader to lead the development of English teaching and outcomes across our Trust. This post is an excellent opportunity for English specialists from the secondary sector who want to extend their experience beyond that of a Learning Director or Subject Head of Department. This is a unique role and a real opportunity to join the central trust team under the direct leadership of the Director for School Improvement.

The core purpose of the role will be to raise achievement in English and to help shape and improve the leadership of English across the Trust. It is desirable for the successful candidate to have examiner experience, knowledge and understanding of the Ofsted inspection process, and be able to take a strategic lead on a day-to-day basis to respond to the particular needs and context which may range from leading at a strategic level or running a department.

Multi Ethnic Achievement Hub
Administrative Assistant

18 hours per week (0.5fte) term time only
Band 5 (points 12-16) £15,823 - £17,169 pro rata

We seek to appoint an administration assistant to work under the direction of the Minority Ethnic Achievement (MEA) Specialist Teacher in order to facilitate the smooth running of the MEA Hub team. Duties will include general administrative tasks, including answering the telephone, dealing with correspondence, filing, record keeping and reprographic support. Ideally applicants should be confident with the use of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Works within the busy environment of the MEA office managing the administration for the team, providing an administrative, reprographics, budget monitoring and reception service, where excellent organisational skills are essential in order to handle the variety of tasks that need to be undertaken.

Teacher of English

Skipton Girls’ High School, co-founder of Northern Star Academies Trust, are seeking to recruit an outstanding Teacher of English to join our strong, vibrant staff team.

As an English Teacher you will be fully supported by an experienced team of English teachers who share a vision of effective teaching and learning founded on collaborative planning, assessment and instruction, and who help each other to continually improve practice. We are looking for an ambitious and inspiring teacher to uphold our high quality of teaching. You will be able to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of teaching, learning and personalisation strategies and be responsible for maintaining the highest quality of monitoring and evaluating whilst improving the standard of achievement for all students. You will be confident in your abilities to teach effectively across all Key Stages (3, 4 and Post 16). Cover Supervisor

30 hours per week (0.8 FTE)
Term time only NJC Band 4 (points 9 – 13) £14,975 to £16,191 per annum, pro rata

Required as soon as possible, staff to support the Student Services team as a Cover Supervisor with the ability to offer the following responsibilities:

  • Supervising students in the absence of their normal teacher
  • Invigilating examinations
  • Supervising students at lunchtime
  • Teaching Assistants (SEN experience an advantage)
  • General administration within the Student Services team

Nursing or counselling skills would be an advantage. Appropriate training and support will be available.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and dedicated Student Progress Assistant with a genuine interest in supporting young people to achieve high standards in behaviour for learning, academic progress and achievement.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and tracking student progress, attendance and behaviour
  • Supporting the work of the SENCo.
  • Supporting the school in celebrating the achievements of all our learners
  • Liaising between parents, students, staff and other stakeholders
  • Supervising students in the absence of their normal teacher

Student Progress Assistants work as part of a team which is led by an Assistant Headteacher.
SEND experience or counselling skills would be an advantage. Appropriate training and support will be available.
